Donnie Yen kickt mal wieder in einem Martial Arts Epos Ärsche und dass er das kann durfte er in der großartig inszenierten Schlacht zu Beginn gleich zeigen. Diese alleine ist schon wunderbar mit vielen kleinen Spielereien inszeniert (bspw. eine Enthauptung aus Sicht des Opfers) und auch sonst bekommt der Martial Arts Fan viel Eye-Candy geboten. Etwas schade ist es jedoch, dass man die Geschichte um die Schlachten herum schon zig mal gesehen hat und auch diese Epoche eigentlich schon viel zu oft beleuchtet wurde. Aber das ist oftmals eben das Manko dieser Filme und da hat sich der Genrefan im Grunde schon daran gewöhnt. Wer sich also daran nicht groß aufhängt, der bekommt einen Donnie Yen in Höchstform geboten.
