bin grad auf diese kleine tschechische kuriosität abseits des allbekannten gestoßen und wollt mal wissen ob das noch jemand kennt (den film oder den regisseur)?
"No other filmaker - and that includes David Lynch - is so consistently inventive in his ability to marry pure, startling nonsense with rigorous logic, black wit with piercing psychological insights." (TIME OUT)
ich persönlich kannte ihn (Jan Swankmajer) bisher nicht, obwohl er in den sechzigern in 6 jahren 21 preise (welche weiss ich allerdings nicht) gewonnen hat.
Jan Swankmajer on ALICE:
Lewis Carrol (Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland) is, without doubt, one of the precursors of Surrealism primarily on account of his perfect understanding of the `logic of dreams`. ALICE is a pure example of an infantile dream.
I am not interested in the imaginary world of the child as a general category, that´s a problem for psychologists. I´m interested, in the first instance, in a dialoque with my own childhood. My ALICE could not be an adaption of Carrols´s, it´s an interpretaion of it fermented by my own childhood, with all its particular obsessions and anxieties.
The purpose of my film would appear to be a modest one: to draw attention once again to dream, no longer valued in contemporary civilisation, it has been cast aside onto the rubbish dumb of psyches. The last fundamental scientific work was Freud´s The Interpretation of Dreams which was almost a hundred years ago! But dreams and reality are the `communicating vessels` (Andre Breton) of our lives! Dreams, that natural well for the imagination, is being systematically filled in and absurdity asserts itself in its place: an absurdity produced in quantitiy by our `scientific`, rational systems.
Unless we begin to tell fairy tales and ghost stories at night before going to sleep and recounting our dreams upon waking, nothing more is to be expected of our Western civilisation. (Afterimage 13, August 1987)
ein äußerst eigenwilliger film wie ich finde (den heutigen maßstäben sicherlich nicht mehr gerecht werdend), aber dennoch interessant. vor allem die teilweise vorhandenen anspielungen.
