How to Make It in America

neues von HBO. zufällig drauf gestoßen, weil ich mir die filmographie von James Ransone angesehen habe. kann jetzt selbst dazu nichts großartig ergoogeln, weil ich's erst sehen will. der nutzerkommentar klingt für mich extrem nach einer neuen, tollen serie:

Two words: Great pilot. Of course, I have to take pilots for what they are (selling points) as should we all... but 'How to Make It' shows a promising amount of potential. I just hope that they don't break that promise... The show focuses on a couple of New Yorkers starting from the bottom (or somewhere near it) trying to "Make it in America". They happen to be surrounded by a cast of entertaining characters which gives it quite the 'Entourage" feel... Add that with a constant onslaught of witty dialogue set in the most modern of all 'modern day New Yorks'... and "Sheeeeiiitt"... Quoting Clay Davis only feels appropriate. You can count me in for the whole season as long as they don't go all 'Hung' on me and put me to sleep like a double shot of codeine in a styrofoam cup. Shout out to Kid Cudi taking a back seat in a supporting roll on a pay-cable show, something that most artists with a future like his wouldn't even consider as a career move. Dude is talented, and Luis Guzman is subtly working his way into being the funniest dude on TV. I swear to God I can't drink anything while he's on the screen because I'll spit it out before he's done talking. The first two episodes get an 'A' from me, and I literally watch everything HBO puts on the screen. As long as it doesn't have anything to do with anybody who's 'Hung' or anybody that's named John from anywhere in Ohio, let alone Cincinnati... God Bless and hope this show is 5 seasons solid.

Als Produzenten sind Stephen Levinson („In Treatment“, „Entourage“) mit seiner Firma Leverage, Mark Wahlberg („Entourage“ - mit seiner Firma Closest to the Hole) und Rob Weiss („Entourage“) mit an Bord.

bisher sind 4 folgen gelaufen, insgesamt wurden 10 folgen geordert = season 1.

die ersten 4 folgen gestern geguckt: hooked!

wird wohl allen fans von Entourage gefallen. hat zwar überhaupt nichts mit der filmwelt zu tun, aber da entwickelt sich auch eine art karriere-story. das ganze ist sehr schön fotografiert, rate daher zu einer 720p version. hat halt leider auch ein wenig diesen reich & schön touch, aber das macht das setting wieder locker wett. bin jetzt schon ein fan von New York: es lebt!

bin langsam am überlegen, ob ich nicht bis zum staffelabschluss warten sollte. eine folge pro woche ist so unergiebig wie bei Entourage.
das wäre auch schon in drei wochen, von daher...

Die Vergleiche mit Entourage kann ich echt nicht verstehen, Bob.
Die Serie hat einen genialen "Flow", keine Gagdichte, also ich sehe das gar nicht.
Aber was soll ich sagen, genial.
Sehe da noch großes auf uns zukommen, grad das Setting gefällt mir, Reich und Schön, Bah, das sind New Yorker Hipster
Endlich mal New York, da stimme ich dir auch zu, dagegen ist Berlin wirklich ein Kuhkaff.

dito, habe ich nach den ersten gesehen folgen mehrmals täglich geguckt.

und der vergleich mit Entourage ist doch sowas von offensichtlich. karriere-start nicht ganz von grund auf, diverse rückschläge, aber es geht insgesamt feel-good-mäßig voran. 1:1 das konzept von Entourage.

Spaßige Serie. Noch nicht son gutes Feeling wie bei Entourage, aber soweit sehr nett. Vor allem das bereits erwähnte Intro ist der absolute Hammer. Im allgemeinen der ganze Style und die Musik sind der größte Pluspunkt. Und Ziggy in der ersten Folge! Der taucht ja überall auf

habe es ja schon mal im anderen thread @ intro erwähnt, der schnitt ist extrem gut. und noch nicht mal "out of substance", da es a) im künstler-milieu (fotografie etc.) spielt und b) die atmosphäre (nachtleben etc.) von New York genial einfängt.
